Day 12-640

Day 12 – Life is What Happens to You While You’re Busy Making Other Plans

In loving memory of Emily Cole – beloved daughter of  Chris and Elaine Cole – gone too soon!

John Lennon was My Favorite of the 4 Beatles

On Monday, December 8, 1980, Lennon was shot by Mark David Chapman in the archway of the Dakota, his residence in New York City. Lennon had just returned from Record Plant Studio with his wife, Yoko Ono. After sustaining four major gunshot wounds, Lennon was pronounced dead on arrival at Roosevelt Hospital. Quoted from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

I’d never been to a concert, in his fanclub, or even knew John, but I cried when he died.

This post isn’t about the death of John Lennon, it’s about the wisdom of his poetry . The day John was taken he plans, grand plans, a baby boy he dreamed about raising and an exciting new phase to what had been a brilliant career but five muzzle flashes all of that was gone.

It Wasn’t My Tragic News but it Hurt Like it Was

I was working at my computer when that familiar sound of a Facebook notification went off and in the time that it took to look up at the monitor my mouse was set to fire and in an instant my day went from feeling happy to gutted.

A friend, a marketing brother of mine who’d just recently become a brand new dad… but the news was he and his wife lost that daughter and though he lived half a world away from me I wished there was something, anything I could do to help but you know you cannot.

So What’s the Point You May be Asking?

I got a reminder and decided to give one to you since you’re here…

Stop acting like you’re going to live forever… YOU’RE NOT!

Start counting your blessings every day and be grateful for even Small things because it doesn’t matter how shitty you think you’re day’s going it would blow your mind how many people in the hospital or graveyard would switch places with you in a heartbeat!

    Hi Fred,
I can understand now as to why this video took so long to put up today. There I was rushing about this morning before I was going to my day job and wanting to make sure I catch your Day 12 video whilst eating my breakfast……….Shocked that it wasn’t there! Why wasn’t it there? What’s Fred up to I thought?
I then get a message notification that it’s your birthday and I send you a birthday message via messenger by mistake rather than the normal birthday instruction to “wish him well “on your timeline, but you get back to me anyway thanking me and stuff.

THEN I get home from work this evening and after my evening meal I check out this Day 12 video. This is a video that I didn’t want to watch, one that I wish you had forgotten about, but the message is clear and sometimes it’s a message that we need to hear even if we don’t want to hear it.
    Stay focused

Yeah it was one of those things Rick that I honestly didn’t want to do but couldn’t not do. See I’m a grandfather to my wife’s kids and I love those kids. The thought of one of them being taken away from us is unthinkable. I can’t pretend to know what Chris and his wife are going through but I do have an idea of it and felt if nothing else if I can put something in print it validates that Emily was here and that she’s gone and that she’s going to be dearly missed. Thank you for following what I’m doing… I appreciate you man.
